Resistance and Adaptation, Flensburg, 19 - 25 July 2026
The Summer School is now in its 4th year of alternating between Vienna and Flensburg after its post-pandemic hiatus, and has had themes such as "Irish Icons and Iconoclasts" (2023), "Irish Cultures in Contact" (2024), "A Sense of Place" (2025). This year's theme is "Resistance and Adaptation." We are pleased to be hosting an exciting line up of speakers, who will be discussing themes related to Irish history, politics, culture, literature, philosophy, film, art, theatre, and more. The week-long school is ECTS-accredited, if it's compatible with your study programmes for the credit transfer. The school is geared towards students at all levels, and we already have a range of BA-, MA-, and PhD students enrolled. This year, we will also be offering introductory Irish language classes.
More information about the speakers, the academic and social programme, the theme, and registration can be found on our website. The deadline to register is the end of May and students can do so through the website portal. There are no costs for the academic programme -- the school is organized as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme -- but some options of the social programme (i.e., the boat trip and brewery tour) will have to be self funded. Likewise, travel and accommodation will need to be self-arranged.
The deadline to register is May 31, so there isn't much time left and only a few spots remaining, but more attendees are still very welcome! The registration link is on our website.
Best wishes (and here for questions!),
Your fellow DACH Victorianists member Michelle Witen
